Boosting content reusability and lowering complexity
The DesignSingapore Council was established in 2003 as the national agency that promotes design, and in 2015, the company was designated as a UNESCO Creative City of Design. That recognition is incorporated in their mission to develop Singapore’s creative culture and ecosystem and fully integrate design and creativity into everyday life.
DesignSingapore Council needed a new CMS to handle an increased demand of a larger team of content editors and a variety of content necessary to satisfy its customers.

The Challenge
The Challenge
Dealing with increased content demand
As content demand increased, DesignSingapore found themselves unable to keep up with the requirements. Their previous CMS was complex, lacked user-friendliness, and there was a limit to how they could reuse content across different pages. They needed a way to render the same content on multiple pages without repeatedly republishing those pages. A CMS that could allow them to leverage the COPE philosophy (Create Once, Publish Everywhere) and reuse content as they saw fit was now a necessity.
The Solution
The Solution
Introducing reuse strategies
With help from Magnolia’s partner Valtech, DesignSingapore implemented Magnolia as their new CMS. Now armed with Magnolia’s delivery API and Content App, this could create new reuse strategies. Now they could easily reuse content, and editors had a user-friendly interface where they could manage content.
DesignSingapore Council’s different content teams can maintain various content types and pages on the website, including Events, Case Studies on Design, and Resources. For every new content like an event or case study published, once the detailed page is created, the thumbnail, teaser, and content can be automatically shown on the homepage under Latest Stories.

The Result
Increased productivity, happier users
Magnolia has empowered content creators to publish and update content without relying on developers and improved user satisfaction by delivering fresh content. Content editors can quickly create websites that are accessible on multiple devices and not just a desktop. Since implementing Magnolia CMS, DesignSingapore Council has benefited from an increase in average daily website visits, a reduction in bounce rate, and the time and effort required to update the content.
